BDA Releases The Top 5 Worst Diets Not To Try This 2015

Are you thinking of starting a new diet this coming new year? You have to read this piece that reveals the top five worst diets that the British Dietetic Association (BDA) has released recently to know what will be great for you and what does not do anything good to your body.

The first fad diet that has been targeted is the paleo diet that the BDA describes as the same as drinking your own urine. This has been linked to Bear Grylls who has endorsed the practice of drinking your own urine due to purposes related to cosmetic, medical and wellbeing.

The Paleo diet is the most Googled diet back in 2013 and paleo cookbooks have been the bestsellers. The Paleo diet advocates should eat like cave men and cannot have processed foods, grains, legumes, dairy and sugar.

Another diet that should be avoided is the sugar free diet that was made popular by Sarah Wilson's "I Quit Sugar", the VB6 diet, the diet that allows you to only eat vegan food before 6 PM and the clay cleanse diet.

According to BDA Spokeswoman Sian Porter, she said that their organization has been receiving hundreds and thousands of inquiries about diet and it ranged from weird, faddy, and even dangerous such as the Breatharian Diet where people are asked to live on fresh air and sunlight alone.

Porter said, "Quite often the fad diets we come across come at a price. Firstly, there can often be a cost to your health if you follow these diets over a period of time and secondly, there are often accompanying books, products, paid-for memberships or online services that can quickly add up. The truth is, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

Aside from the BDA, the Dieticians Association of Australia also voiced out their opinion on these diets especially the paleo diet and said in a statement, "I think we've got to realise that the average age of cave men was 25 years old. So while the paleo diet might have supported them, that diet is not going to support us where our life expectancy is into our 80s."

Also, they find it frustrating that accredited dieticians tell people what to do but they don't follow it just because the fad diets are introduced by celebrities. They are advising people to do their research and base it all on science so as to be safe and lose weight safely and healthily.
