Stephen Collins have finally admitted to the allegations and accusations about him having an inappropriate sexual conduct against three underage girls from 1973 to 1994.
The star has submitted a thousand-word statement and tells People magazine that his behavior was inexcusable and that he has not done anything like his claims after the last incident in reference to him exposing himself to a teenager back in 1994.
He said in the statement that he has not had an impulse to act out in such a way for the last 20 years. He adds, "I deeply regret the mistakes I've made and any pain I have caused these three women. I admit to, apologize for and take responsibility for what I did."
He said that forty years ago he did something terribly wrong and that he has been working ever since to pay for it. He then added that he has decided to talk about the issues publicly as two months ago, his ex-wife Faye Grant, released a confidential information he has revealed during one of their marriage therapy sessions back in January 2012.
He said that he described the events that took place 20, 32 and 40 years ago and the recording has resulted to assumptions of how it happened and it has went far beyond than what really took place.
The 67-year-old said that he exposed himself twice to a pre-teen girl in 1973 when he was only 25 years old. "When the girl and I were watching TV alone, I moved her hand in such a way that caused her to touch me inappropriately. It was a completely impulsive act, and it's haunted me ever since to think of what I put her through," Collins narrates.
He also exposed himself in 1982 and 1994 and he has been in therapy for the last 20 years due to these. He also claims that he never acted inappropriately for playing his role as Reverend Eric Camden. "I appeared for eleven seasons on a television series [7th Heaven] with a cast that included minor females in our TV family, and countless other young actresses throughout the show's 11 years. I never behaved inappropriately on or off that set-or on any set I've ever worked on," Collins narrates.
He also claims he has talked to one of the women and apologized. The woman was very polite but he learned through his therapist that him showing up and apologizing might just open old wounds so he has no longer attempted to apologize to the other two women who are now in their 50s and 30s.
Collins will also be having a sit down according to Yahoo Global News and his whole interview will air on ABC.
