James Bond Actors: Will Idris Elba Become First Black 007?

Following "The Interview" related Sony Pictures hack earlier this December, all kinds of scoops have been made public in regards of the big Hollywood studio, including the possibility of new James Bond actors - will Idris Elba become the first ever black James Bond once Daniel Craig steps down?

There have already been six different James Bond actors: Sean Connery in the 60s, George Lazenby in one film by the end of that decade, Roger Moore throughout the 70s and most of the 80s, Timothy Dalton in two movies by the end of that decade, Pierce Brosnan in the 90s and early 00s and now, since 2006's "Casino Royale," Daniel Craig - but who's next?

The possibility of a black MI6 007 agent has raised some eyebrows in social media, ever since the Sony e-mail leak seemed to suggest the "Luther" star was being considered to step up in the upcoming films and become the sixth of the James Bond Actors, getting the role at some point after the release of Bond 24, the 2015 "Spectre."

According to The Daily Mail, the possibility of Elba becoming the latest of Bond actors came during the Sony leak, after the studio's co-chairman Amy Pascal told a Columbia Pictures executive that "Idris should be the next Bond" - an idea that has gotten some very extreme reactions from the public, as many have stated that author Ian Fleming wrote James Bond as a white, blue-eyed brunette man.

Elba, who first became famous in the United States playing the role of criminal mastermind Stringer Bell in HBO's "The Wire," was quick to address the rumors, thanking fans for their support, according to The Independent.

"007 is supposed to be handsome? Glad you think I've got a shot!" Elba tweeted in regards of the rumors.

Interestingly enough, this wouldn't be the first time a Bond actor gets picked on by the media and fans because of his looks: when it was first announced that Daniel Craig would be playing the role of agent 007, fans across the world complained about the fact that the British actor is blond.

This isn't the first time that Idris Elba's name is considered become the latest of James Bond actors: according to Variety, he already addressed the possibility in 2012.

"I just don't want to be the black James Bond," Elba said at the time. "Sean Connery wasn't the Scottish James Bond and Daniel Craig wasn't the blue-eyed James Bond, so if I played him, I don't want to be called the black James Bond."

In any case, there's no doubt that, in time for picking out James Bond actors, Idris Elba would be among the best choices: he's got all the swing, handsomeness and suave flair to ask for his Vodka Martinis shaken, not stirred!
