Danny Pino: 'Law and Order: SVU' Season 16 is His Last

Danny Pino, who has played Detective Nick Amaro on 'Law and Order: Special Victims Unit', confirms he's leaving the show after his character bids goodbye in the season 16 finale.

In an interview with TV Guide, the show's Executive Producer Warren Leight that Pino's character will be written off after spending four seasons on the show.

"It's hard because I'm a hoarder and I adore Danny," he said.

Last Wednesday, the actor shared the news on Twitter, where he thanked the cast and crew of the show for his "four fantastic seasons".

The 41-year-old actor also did not forget to thank all his fans for their support all throughout his journey as Detective Nick.

The 'Law and Order: SVU' finale was aired Wednesday and served as Pino's last appearance on the show.

In the 23rd episode, Detective Nick Amaro was shot while he faced off with serial rapist and human trafficker Johnny D during his trial. Not too long after he recovered from the injuries he sustained, Amaro revealed his retirement to his boss and partner, Sergeant Olivia Benson.

It was an emotional farewell speech for Amaro, who spoke to Benson during the party for her adoptive son, Noah's adoption. "I know I wasn't what your old partner was for you," to which Benson replied, "that old relationship didn't allow for anything... But you, with your support, I have a family."

Before the finale episode aired, Mariska Hargitay, who plays Sergeant Benson did not disclose any information about who her next partner will be in the crime drama.

Pino has not yet talked about his reasons of leaving the show as well.

But this leaves the viewers with a hanging question: who will be the new detective to work with Mariska Hargitay's Olivia Benson?

Law and Order: SVU was officially renewed by NBC in February.
