Susan Sarandon Nepal: ‘Thelma & Louise’ Star Breaks With Jonathan Bricklin, Urges Tourists To Visit After Nepal Earthquake

The 68 year-old star of beloved films like "Thelma & Louise" and "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" has been making news in the past couple of years after splitting from longtime partner Tim Robbins and dating Jonathan Bricklin for the past five years - but now it's Susan Sarandon's Nepal efforts making headlines.

The 68 year-old actress, who has an Oscar from co-starring on "Dead Man Walking" with Sean Penn in 1995 (being directed by then-partner Robbins), has been a part of a wide variety of charity efforts over the years, and has led a very politically active life, which now includes Susan Sarandon's Nepal cause.

Susan Sarandon's Nepal efforts came earlier this week, as the actress arrived in the South Asian country last Sunday announcing she'd be traveling around the rest of the nation over the next few days in an attempt to bring more western conscience to the region.

Fox News reports that Susan Sarandon's Nepal visit will go on for five days, and she's beginning her trip by staying with the famed Kung-fu nuns in a Buddhist monastery in the country, later doing the same in an orphanage that was destroyed in one of the devastating earthquakes from earlier this year.

"It is important to emphasize that by the fall, when monsoon ends, people should make their reservations now if they want to help and they want to come and visit because it is very, very important to keep all these jobs alive," said the actress during Susan Sarandon's Nepal visit, according to Star Tribune. "I think that would be the next wave - to think of Nepal not as an ongoing disaster, but as a country that has found its way back and has many monuments that haven't fallen and many beautiful areas that can be still safe to trek."

The Asian country has been stricken by two major quakes in the past month, namely a 7.8 one on April 25 and a 7.3 quake on May 12; around 8,600 people died from the two disasters and there are reports of almost 17,000 people injured.

The Daily Mail reports that, before Susan Sarandon's Nepal visit, it had been announced that the 68 year-old actress had recently split from longtime boyfriend Jonathan Bricklin.
