Trader Joe’s Peanut Butter Recall: 6 Alternative Peanut Butter Brands That Are Safe

A peanut butter recall has been issued for 76 products, including peanut butter and almond butter under Trader Joe's store brand and other brands. Instead, here are six alternative peanut butter brands that are safe, organic and tasty:

* Santa Cruz Organic

* Whole Food's 365 brand

* Smucker's

* Costco's Kirkland brand

* Teddie

* Crazy Richard's.

Recently 30 salmonella cases have been reported in 19 states, with four hospitalized and no deaths. Half of these cases occurred among children under 7. An investigation by the Center for Disease Control suspect that these salmonella poisoning resulted from peanut butter sold at Trader Joe's stores. Of 14 people interviewed, 12 reported that they ate Trader Joe's Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter before they got sick.

Trader Joe's issued a statement saying that they are acting "out of an abundance of caution" and that the specific peanut butter product should not be eaten.

Sunland Inc., the supplier of Trader Joe's Creamy Salted Valencia Peanut Butter, has issued a recall on 76 of its peanut butters and almond butters produced between May 1 and Sept. 24.
