Marvel Gay Superhero? Kevin Feige Says MCU Phase 4 Could Contain LGBT Superhero!

In this day and age where proper representation of minorities has become a major concern, the possibility of a Marvel gay superhero has been put out there by comic book and film fans all over the world, and now, for the first time, the man behind the grand project of the MCU, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, has discussed the possibility of bringing LGBTQ characters to the big screen.

On the possibility of lesbian, gay, transgender and queer characters entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe (as there are already a few sexuality/gender minority characters on the original comics), Feige has recently stepped forward to say that, while it's unlikely to see Marvel gay superheroes from here until 2019, there's a strong chance for Phase 4.

According to KpopStarz, Feige was asked about a Marvel gay superhero, and the producer said he saw no reason why it could be a reality on the big screen sooner than later, as the comics have been very "progressive" in that regard.

"They've been very progressive in the comics," Feige told Slash Film about a possible Marvel gay superhero. "And even more recently in a very important and progressive way. And we keep track of all of those things and are inspired by all of those things, so I'd love it to find an organic, meaningful and natural way for that to happen at some point in the not so distant future."

Forbes' interpretation of Feige's words about a Marvel gay superhero aren't quite as optimistic, however, as contributor Benjamin Moore states that it sounded as if Feige was completely unprepared for a question that should be very simple to answer.

In an attempt to up the ante in matters of diversity, Marvel's major rival DC Comics recently released a new solo comic dedicated to Nightcrawler, a character that has been considered "gay Batman."

Although they haven't appeared at the Marvel Cinematic Universe, possible Marvel gay superhero characters could include Hulkling, Wiccan, Ultimate Spider-Woman and Phyla-Vell.
