TOP 10 Coffee Shops in Downtown New York - Introducing FIKA

FIKA Espresso Bar is one of our TOP 10 Coffee Shops in Downtown New York.  When you say 'Swedish style of coffee' not many can really imagine what that realy is. If you want to find an answer I encourage you to visit one of the FIKA stores, and in case you are in Downtown New York stop by 66 Pearl Street, near Broad and Water streets in the Financial District.

Some people say that Swedish word 'Fika' means 'addictive chocolate', however FIKA is a Swedish verb that roughly translates into taking a coffee break, usually accompanied by something sweet and delicious. Having a fika is an extremely important daily ritual for Swedes who enjoy taking a longer moment to indulge in conversations with friends and colleagues.

To illustrate what we are talking about, here are some reviews from Yelp.com:

There are very few decent places for any type of decent coffee/latte/espresso shot in the Financial District but this place is amazing. Ordered the salted double chocolate nut cookie ($2 for a cookie half the size of my palm) however it's delicious.  I've had muffins from here as well and they're amazing too. Go in the morning for muffins as they are fresh!  Lastly, great place to go if you're looking to have a conversation with someone that isn't a noisy starbucks or a crowded lunch place.   Jane R. (Brooklyn, NY)

Coffee here is fantastic - little more expensive than other places in the area but very worth it.  I had the apple cinnamon muffin and it was crunchy on the outside but soft and gooey in the middle - just how I like it.    Annika P. (Charter Township, MI)

The FiDi is a certified "espresso desert" with very few joints that can pull a proper shot. Fika is one of those rarities. Lattes here are like velvet with their well-executed microfoam, and you should probably pick one of their many chocolate truffles to go with your drink. The smallest pleasures in life are the greatest.   Milly S. (New York, NY)

All in all I really enjoyed FIKA NYC.  It is a bit pricy if you opt to go with food / chocolate but more than worth it for the experience and smooth, high end coffee.  If you're only in town for a bit it will definitely be more fun and interesting than Starbucks.  This place comes highly recommended- I will certainly be back.   Wally G. If you decide to visit this place I do hope you will enjoy it!
