Paleo Vegan: ‘Peganism’ Might Be ULTIMATE Weight Loss Diet, Study Shows

In a day and age where fad diets change up every couple of years and the biggest stars in the world can even get in trouble with the media due to their dietary decisions (most notably Beyoncé Knowles and her recent announcement that she was now a vegan), a new study has shown that the answer may be in a combination of paleo and vegan diets.

According to Quartz, a recent study published on the Journal of General Internal Medicine has found that the easiest way to achieve weight loss is by following a vegetarian diet, but the thing is that it may not be possible for everyone to follow the strict regime - which is where the combination of paleo and vegan, "paganism," comes in.

The Telegraph reports that the combination of paleo and vegan comes from Dr. Mark Hyman, who coined the term "pegan," stating that it's also the diet that makes the most "sense" out of all of them, as it is "sustainable for our health and the health of the planet," all while avoiding animals' suffering within possible.

Interestingly enough, paleo and vegan are both practically on the opposite ends of the spectrum: while paleo, from Paleolithic, focuses on the consumption of unprocessed foods that were available for our cavemen ancestors, veganism steers completely away from any form of animal products.

According to Hungry Forever, the combination of paleo and vegan is mostly focused on fruits and vegetables, filling 75 percent of food intake with plants, while the remains should be high-quality fats and animal proteins.

Also, following this diet could lead to benefits such as lower cholesterol and a smaller risk of developing diabetes.

In other words, as far as what's allowed, this should make the trick: vegetables, meat from antibiotic-free animals, high-quality fats (think avocados and olive oil), healthy grains and lentils - while people following paganism should avoid foods such as dairy, soy and sugar.

Mix paleo and vegan and see the results for yourself!
