Breaking Bad Themed Coffee Shop Opens In Istanbul

Breaking Bad may have ended two years ago, but it's legacy now lives in the form of a Coffee Shop in the Turkish city of Istanbul. The acclaimed drama, which ran on AMC for five seasons, followed the exploits of Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher diagnosed with cancer who begins producing a drug known as Methamphetamine to provide for his family.

The coffee shop takes its name from the show's lead character, calling itself 'Walter's Coffee Roastery' Contemporist recently published a full feature on the establishment and it certainly looks the part. Waiters and Baristas are decked out in the yellow hazmat suits and gas masks that Walter and his apprentice Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) would frequently don when producing a batch of their famous 'crystal blue' meth which the store has reinterpreted as blue coloured rock candy.

The theme continues through to the actual coffee and service as well. The giant industrial grinders and chemex coffee machines the shop uses bear a striking resemblance to the hi-tech equipment that Walter utilizes later on in the show. All of the coffees served on the menu come served in lab glassware such as beakers and flasks and a giant periodic table decorates one of the walls, an obvious nod to the show's chemistry themes.

Buzzfeed was able to secure an interview with Deniz Kosan, one of the founders of 'Walter's.' he says the whole thing began as a gag:

"He looks like Walter White from the TV show and I thought it would be great to create a place where people can work and enjoy fresh roasted and brewed coffee," Kosan said.

However it seems that the idea has proved a success. Kosan and his partners now plan to bring Walter's to more locations in Europe and hopefully the United States.
