Disney Confirms ‘Star Wars’ Theme Park, First Marvel Ride ‘Iron Man Experience’ – More Details About Plans [PHOTOS]

Just last week, reports of "Star Wars" and Marvel theme parks for Disneyland surfaced. But now that the 2015 D23 Expo has come and gone, more details have been revealed about Disneyland's expansion plans.

So the rumors were true, to an extent. Disneyland isn't creating a theme park for "Star Wars," instead, they're making two "Star Wars" themed lands within the Disneyland theme parks.

One "Star Wars" land is set to be built at the Disneyland in Anaheim, California, while the other will be built at Disney's Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

Announced on Saturday, CEO Bob Iger finally confirmed the news after years of rumors that succeeded the company's $4.05 billion acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012, which was George Lucas' production company.

Bob Iger stated on the Disney Parks blog:

"I am thrilled to announce the next chapter in the long and exciting history between Disney Parks and 'Star Wars.' We are creating a jaw-dropping new world that represents our largest single themed land expansion ever. These new lands at Disneyland and Walt Disney World will transport guests to a whole new 'Star Wars' planet, including an epic 'Star Wars' adventure that puts you in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance."

Iconic Star Wars locations and vehicles - such as the Cantina and the Millenium Falcon - will be incorporated into the "Star Wars Land" in the form of restaurants, rides and "signature attractions," as per E! News.

As for the Marvel theme park - well it seems that it was simply a rumor. However, Disneyland will soon be unveiling its first ever Marvel ride, the "Iron Man Experience," located in Hong Kong Disneyland.

The "Iron Man Experience" is a simulator ride, much like Star Tours. Part of the Stark Expo in Tomorrowland, guests can see Howard and Tony Stark's inventions.
