'The Fat Jew' Catches Heat from New York Based Food Blogger

It seems like the Internet scorn for Josh 'The Fat Jew' Ostrovsky is still coming on strong. He has been at the center of a heated debate on social media concerning The Fat Jew Instagram account that has earned him much recognition.

Last week, it was revealed that Ostrovsky had landed a deal with Hollywood talent agency CAA. A quick backlash followed, with many people on social media pointing out that the majority of the jokes and posts contained in his Instagram account were created by others and often did not credit their origins.

Ostrovsky would go on to give a remorseful interview with Vulture, apologizing for his actions and clearing out any misconceptions regarding the Instagram account. However, it seems like one person isn't buying it.

Kenji Lopez-Alt, a New York City based food writer who serves as managing culinary director for Serious Eats, withdrew his involvement in an upcoming food event because Ostrovsky was signed on to host the gathering.

On his Facebook page Lopez-Alt writes:

"I opened up the event's official website and saw not the event we'd been planning, but The Fat Jew's ramen party. His face, his name, all listed above ours, despite the fact that we were neither consulted nor alerted to his involvement in the event.

The Fat Jew is the antithesis of everything I represent in the media world ... He is a plagiarist, a thief, a misogynist, and absolutely the wrong choice of co-host for a food event, or really any respectable event."

An earlier post has even harsher words for Ostrovsky:

I'm so disgusted by this Josh Ostrovsky (Fat Jew) situation. The man gets called out for stealing other people's work and making a career out of it, complete with incontrovertible evidence (screen caps with names carefully cropped out, and if that's not good enough for you, actual typed tweets that are word-for-word other people's jokes). He's silent for a week, then does an interview where even when faced with these incredibly serious accusations, he's flippant and disingenuous.

Lopez-Alt says he is working on an alternative event to support the NYC Food and Wine Festival.
