Cate Blanchett has sold her Hunters Hills mansion with undisclosed purchased amount.
Cate and her husband Andrew Upton listed their historic landmark mansion two weeks ago. But with just a short amount of time, the couple didn't find themselves sprawling in the languish market, buyer's agent Deborah West, of SydneySlice, confirmed that the property was sold, but she refused to reveal the sale price.
However, it is expected to have sold for about $20 million, according to Stuff.
Blanchett and Upton purchased the 3642 square metre property 10 years ago for $10 million from merchant banker Jim Dominguez and his wife Suzanne.
The couple spent more than $8 million for the three years renovation of the Bulwarra house. Architects Nadine Alwill and St Stephen Lesiuk spent three years in redesigning the house.
The remodeled house features a self-contained apartment under the swimming pool, riverfront tennis court and gardens that were designed by Will Dangar.
Cate with an estimated net worth of $45 million dollars, as per Celebrity Net Worth, listed their Sydney based mansion because they will be relocating to the United States next year, after their children finish school and Upton's term as creative director of the Sydney Theatre Company comes to an end.
Earlier this year, Andrew Told Fairfax Media it was a "very hard decision."
"It won't be a permanent move. Sydney will always be our home. But it will be an adventure," he said.
"We spent nine years living in England and we loved it. But now we'd like to try America. They have terrific (opportunities in) television there and Cate has a very strong film career there, too, obviously."
"The deciding factor was that our children are still of an age where they can be mobile without disrupting their education too much."
The historic mansion was built back in 1877 as 'Erigola,' as per Domain. It was originally owned by brick manufacturer Herbert Oswin Weynton. The former owner sold it to chairman of Arnotts Biscuits Company Halse Rogers Arnott for £750 in 1904.
Hunters Hill alderman Charles Adnam Fairland purchased the mansion from Arnotts family for £900 in 1909. The family remained the owner until 1958. Ragtrader Thomas Powell then bought the mansion.
