When Google Chrome overtook Mozilla Firefox as the people's browser of choice, it boasted a very light load on computer memory and superior speed. Over the years, however, it has started to seriously eat so much resources and RAM that just a few open tabs would cause it to slow down the whole system.
Chrome 45 is Google's answer to this problem. The update emphasizes speed and lower memory usage and basically brings Chrome back to basics, TechCrunch reports. The update will recognize when your computer is low on resources when restoring tabs. Chrome will stop loading these tabs until you actively click them to be restored yourself, effectively speeding up the process. Folks who have a dozen tabs open will benefit the most from this feature.
But the good news does not end there. Chrome now also knows when you are no longer using certain tabs. It will then use that tab's memory instead new tabs that you will open, effectively freeing up space towards activities you need rather than accommodating all open tabs. This feature alone can cut a computer's memory usage by 10%. Computers which require every MB of memory will find this feature very useful.
Additionally, Google will be introducing a new feature to Chrome 45 in the coming weeks. Chrome will automatically pause non-essential Flash content upon loading a webpage like Flash ads. This feature will prove to make computer batteries last up to 15% longer, Android Headlines reports.
These new features will make Chrome much faster and easier on computers. Chrome 45 is already out and available for download for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Android.
