Joseph Gordon-Levitt Talks About Smoking Weed And His Upcoming Biopics [TRAILER]

Joseph Gordon-Levitt sure knows what makes him think on a higher perspective.

People Magazine reports the 34-year-old actor sat down with Playboy Magazine and talked about smoking weed and his new biopic characters.

"When I smoke weed I'm more liable to make connections I wouldn't otherwise make," 'The Night Before' actor explained. "Sometimes those connections are ludicrous. But sometimes they're great. You're like, 'Oh s---, I might not have thought of that,' and it actually makes sense in the morning."

The 'Snowden' actor added it was "awesome" getting stoned with director Oliver Stone - whose Edward Snowden biopic film premieres next year.

"With Oliver it was really nice because most of the time we were in this kind of high-stakes situation of working, and when we were smoking, we just smoked and watched a couple of movies a few times," he said. "He'll say s--- people don't say. If I laughed at something while we were watching a movie, he would be like, 'Why are you laughing?' ... He's always kind of nudging you."

"I can't say. Sorry," said Gordon-Levitt - who plays the title character in the film - when asked if he had met the U.S. National Security Agency whistleblower. He did, however, do a lot of "reading and watching" about Snowden when he was studying the character -- including the 2014 Oscar-wining documentary, 'Citizenfour'.

Another biopic, 'The Walk' will feature Gordon-Levitt as the famous high-wire walker Philippe Petit. As he was taught how to walk on tightrope by Petit himself, the actor said he was surprised to know how much they had in common.

"Philippe's an absolutist," he said. "There are upsides and downsides to that way of thinking, and I suspect I saw a little too much of myself in him. I understand what it means to work and work on something and look up and go, 'F---, I've been doing this for 18 hours straight.' "

"To be honest, he drove me crazy at times," he added. "He's someone who doesn't relax until he's accomplished whatever's in his head."

'The Walk' will hit theaters worldwide on October 9th.
