Emma Stone dances through the famed Queen Mary ship in the beautifully stylized clip for Will Butler's "Anna," the second single off the Arcade Fire multi-instrumentalist's debut solo LP, Policy.
With some funky choreography and erratic acting, Emma brought “Anna” to life, but the character certainly required her to go crazy.
Emma Stone had her crazy eyes on as she bounced around the boat full of sailors, busting a move with all of them — even licking one on the cheek!
In the clip, shot on the RMS Queen Mary, Stone loosely reenacts the retired ocean liner’s “Lady In White” ghost story, albeit with a little more 2015 pizazz.
Directed by Brantley Gutierrez and choreographed by Ryan Heffington, who handled the dancing in Sia's "Chandelier," and the recent reboot of Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson's "Say Say Say," the video boasts the aesthetic and madcap feel of classic musicals.
The 26-year-old looks better than ever in the nautical-themed vid, prancing around in a classy white dress. Ironically, her gorgeous, put-together look didn’t exactly reflect the character she was portraying…Anna is apparently quite the crazy girl!
As Butler repeats the final word of the line "Cause you got to get money!" Stone dashes wildly down another hall, grabbing stacks of cash being thrust out by perfectly timed jazz hands.
Moments later, she's bashing out a solo on an invisible piano, twisting and shouting on the ship's deck and bringing the wild festivities to a close with an absurdly glamorous and silly stage show.
While “Anna” is quite different from most of Emma’s onscreen roles, she’s no stranger to the theatrics involved in the Ryan Heffington-choreographed vid. Emma starred in Broadway’s Cabaret earlier this year, so it’s no surprise that she nailed her over-the-top “Anna” performance.
Butler released 'Policy' in March, describing the album in a statement as "American music — in the tradition of the Violent Femmes, the Breeders, the Modern Lovers, Bob Dylan, Smokey Robinson, the Magnetic Fields, Ghostface Killah. And John Lennon."
