Seiko Creates The Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Timepiece

The hottest new merchandise based on Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is something as functional as it is cool. Seiko, the iconic Japanese watchmaker, collaborated with Kojima Productions to create a timepiece based on the one worn by the Big Boss. The result is the Wired x MGSV The Phantom Pain Watch, The Awesomer reported.

The watch has a retro feel to it and runs on a tried-and-tested Seiko quartz movement. It is an homage piece to the Seiko Digibord, a watch popular in the 80s. Below are the available specs taken from Metal Gear Informer:

Per month difference ± 30 seconds (if worn on your wrist at temperature 5 ℃ ~ 35 ℃)

Its case size: 52.5 mm (including outer case diameter) × 42.0mm x 15.3mm. Included in the package is a steel and nylon bracelet. The Wired x MGSV The Phantom Pain Watch is a limited edition model and only 2,500 pieces will be made. It retails for $375.

The watch was featured in episode 34 of Kojima Station, a podcast from Hideo Kojima and other game creators from Kojima Productions. The podcast provides a behind-the-scenes look at game developments and insights from producers and team members from Kojima Productions.

Episode 34 mostly talked about the Metal Gear Solid V Collectors Edition, and touched on the Limited Edition PS4 which will be available in Japan only. The Collectors Edition includes a full-scale bionic arm replica for the Japan market and a half-scale model for North America and PAL region.
