Waffle House Customer Shot At Thief During Attempted Robbery In Charleston, South Carolina

As debate on gun control continues in America, a man with a concealed gun just saved the day in Charleston, South Carolina.

While a Waffle House crew was busy going with their daily work, a robber entered the North Charleston establishment in the hopes of robbing the restaurant early on Saturday morning.

Thankfully, a customer at the establishment had a gun with him - along with his license permitting to carry a concealed weapon - and shot at the armed thief.

Police responded to reports of an armed robbery and fired shots at the Waffle House at 6907 Dorchester Road at approximately 5AM. Police arrived on the scene and found that the suspect had already been shot.

According to The Post and Courier, "the young man who tried to rob the restaurant was rushed to Medical University Hospital, but he later died, police spokeswoman Angela Johnson said."

An employee for Waffle House even commended the unidentified hero: "He saved, us, that's what he did."

Meanwhile, an officer at the scene had this to say: "It says something about firearms [...] for good people with firearms being in the right hands."

After the Charleston County Coroner's Office and the police department asked the public for help in identifying the thief, the robber was later identified as Josh Jermaine Davis, a 19-year-old who is believed to reside with a friend in downtown Charleston.

Furthermore, Johnson stated that the police are not pressing any charges against the customer at the time.

Waffle House division manager Brandon Rogers also issued a statement saying that nothing was stolen from the restaurant. "No one was hurt, which is the best part. [...] No one was injured - besides the suspect."

This wasn't the first time a customer has shot at a thief during an attempted robbery. According to Eater, an off-duty security guard dining at a different Waffle House location shot another suspect back in 2013.
