It has been confirmed that the Streaming media company - Netflix, has given a straight-to-series to Selena Gomez, a project which is executive produced by the singer and former Disney Channel star.

The series of Selena Gomez on Netflix is based on the best-selling young adult novel by Jay Asher - Thirteen Reasons Why. The forthcoming TV series that featured the "Come And Get It' singer - Selena Gomez, was written and created by a Pulitzer Prize winner - the American playwright, lyricist, and theatre director  Brian Yorkey, and the series has been picked up for 13 episodes.

In front of Netflix, in 2012 - the Universal picked up the alternative for 13 Reasons Why, with hopes of turning it into a starring role for Selena Gomez. The novel focuses on a timorous California high school student, who uncovers by chance a box of cassette tapes on his doorstep. The tapes were recorded by a classmate he was very fond of, but committed suicide - Hannah Baker.

Since the breakout series of Selena Gomez' Wizards of Waverly Place, came to an end in 2012, the singer and actress has turned her attention to films such as the 2012's American black comedy crime film - Spring Breakers, the 2012's 3D computer animated fantasy comedy film Hotel Transylvania and its sequel, as well as director Nicholas Stoller's upcoming comedy film Neighbors 2.

Nevertheless, on the music front, Selena Gomez has sold out more than 22 million singles globally, thumbs up to her hits like "The Heart Wants What It Wants." The latest album of Selena Gomez entitled Revival, debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Selena Gomez will executive produce the show on Netflix, along with Mandy Teefey (Selena Gomez's mother), Kristel Laiblin and Anonymous Content.
