Man Stabbed, Killed After Eating Last Piece of Chicken

A tragedy occurred recently over chicken, a last piece of chicken at the dinner table that is. One Houston man has died and another has been accused of fatally stabbing him after a fight over a piece of chicken.

According to ABC 7, a Houston man was killed after he ate the last piece of chicken from a pile that he and a group of other men were feasting on. According to police, all men were believed to be of Cuban descent.

The fatal stabbing incident over the last piece of chicken took place late Friday evening in an apartment at 1445 Lakeside Estate. A group of five men were cooking dinner and drinking, when 34-year-old Darwin Perez Gonzalez took the last piece of chicken and then ate it, according to The Daily Mail.

Seeing this apparently infuriated 38-year-old Reinaldo Cardoso Rivera so much that the two roommates got into a heated argument. The situation eventually turned into a fist fight at the parking lot of the complex, reported the station KPRC.

According to police, the fight began around 11:30 p.m., and at some point in the fight, Rivera pulled out a knife and stabbed Gonzalez in his anger. Rivera eventually fled the scene carrying the murder weapon. Gonzalez died at the parking lot, according to Food Beast.

Rivera, who was also hurt in the brawl, returned to the scene of the crime and admitted to the police officers - who had already gone to the residence - that he was the one who stabbed Gonzalez.

At around 4 a.m., Rivera was taken into custody and charged with murder in connection with the Friday stabbing over a piece of chicken.

"There was a single drumstick in the pan," Houston Police Department Homicide Detective Fil Waters told the Houston Chronicle. "You can't script this stuff. It's someone getting killed over a piece of chicken. Pretty tragic."

Rivera's is currently in Harris County jail and is on a $200,000 bond. His next court date is on December 16, reported USA Today.

"I just felt that a human life taken over a piece of chicken is ridiculous," John McDonald, a neighbour, told KPRC-TV, Houston.

It's not the first time a person was killed over a chicken however. In 2013, a man reportedly killed a teen over a piece of chicken.
