ConAgra Foods Recalls More Than 54,673 Pounds of Misbranded Chicken Noodle Soup

There's another food recall, and this time it's from ConAgra Foods in Milton, Pa. The company recalled more than 54,673 pounds of chicken noodle soup, according to Upi. Com. That's a staggering 27 tons. The soup was misbranded and had the undeclared allergens of both wheat and egg.

The 5,200 cases of chicken noodle soup that were recalled were labeled as Healthy Choice Chicken with Rice Microwaveable Bowl. However, it's likely that these containers may instead contain Healthy Choice Chicken Noodle Soup, according to Food Quality News. Since the Healthy Choice Chicken Noodle soup contains both wheat and egg, which are not declared on the Health Choice Chicken with Rice label, ConAgra had to issue a recall.

The products themselves have the following label: 14-ounc microwave bowls of Healthy Choice Chicken with Rice soup. These bowls also bear the establishment number "P-770" inside the USDA Mark of Inspection. They have the Best By date of JUN092015 stamped on the bottom of each bowl, according to UPI.com.

The soup bowls were made on Dec. 16 2013 and were shipped to retail outlets nationwide. They were also distributed to the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Puerto Rico.  The problem was first detected by consumers who then reported the mislabeled soup to the firm. Currently, it's too early to know whether any consumers experienced adverse reactions to the food. Yet there have been no reports thus far.

If you have any questions about the recall, you should contact the ConAgra Foods hotline at 1-800-289-6014. In addition, you can find out about other recalls at the FSIS website, located here. Currently, there's also a recall of beef products in Texas, and a Colorado firm has also recalled various meat products due to soy lecithin.
