A pissed off Ice Cube has finally cooled down and is setting the record straight about the comments he made on losing the MTV Movie Award for best onscreen duo to Paul Walker and Vin Diesel.
Ice Cube and actor Kevin Hart were nominated for "Best Onscreen Duo" at the MTV Movies Award on Sunday for their performance in the comedy "Ride Along," however the award went to the "Fast and Furious" actors.
"We was robbed," Ice Cube told USA Today. "Shame on you MTV."
Ice Cube, whose real name is O'Shea Jackson, insists that he and Hart should have taken home the trophy for their performance. The rapper-turned-actor is blaming his loss on a "sympathy" vote by fans of Walker, who died last November in a fiery car crash. Walker was honored during a special tribute led by his co-star Jordana Brewstert.
"We had the best chemistry of everybody nominated, for us not to win was crazy," the rapper said. "We were the best onscreen duo, period."
The "Friday After Next" star added: "They should have gave it to him before he passed away."
The 44-year-old rapper also dissed Sunday's MTV Movie Awards by leaving mid-show. He stated that he "just wasn't into" the show; instead, he watched the Lakers play on television at home.
"I just wasn't into it," Ice Cube said about the show. "I have been going in and out of these things for 25 years. If you ain't into it, why torture yourself? As soon as you get bored, get up and leave."
After fans took to social media to express their outrage, Ice Cube tweeted Monday night. "Re: The MTV Awards. I wasn't really mad we didn't win. So I would never diss the actors who won. Not even Paul Walker. Seriously people!"
Ice Cube added: "Don't believe the hype."
