Kraft Foods Recalls 96000 Pounds of Oscar Mayer Hot Dogs

Kraft Foods is recalling 96,000 pounds of its Oscar Mayer Classic Wieners due to the product possibly containing Classic Cheese Dogs in the Classic Wieners' packages, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service said Sunday.

According to the Denver Post, Kraft released a statement on its website and Facebook stating that its "Oscar Mayer Classic Wieners" may instead contain its "Classic Cheese Dogs." Kraft was made aware of the mishap after a customer complained about the problem.

The USDA reported that the product labels are incorrect and could pose a problem for individuals with milk allergies. The labels do not included the "ingredients associated with the pasteurized cheese in the cheese dogs."

Kraft Foods Group, Inc. of Columbia, Mo. recall applies to:

--16 oz. packages -individual consumer packages- of "Classic Wieners Made with Turkey & Chicken, Pork Added" with "USE BY 16 Jun 2014" date and product code "044700000632"

--Cases of 16 oz. packages -distributed to retailers- of "Classic Cheese Dogs Made with Turkey & Chicken, Pork Added, and Pasteurized Cheese Product" with "USE BY 16 Jun 2014" date and case code "00447000005300"

The products were produced on March 2-3, 2014 with the number "Est. 537H" in the USDA inspection mark. It was distributed to Kraft distribution centers and in retail stores nationwide.

"FSIS and the company have received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products," the agency stated Sunday. "Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider."
