Miss World Canada Denied Entry To China

One of the Miss World Canada contenders Anastasia Lin has been reportedly banned from entering China on Thursday, November 26, CNN reported.

Reports say that Lin, who was originally born in China but moved to Canada since she was a 13, was supposed to attend this year's Miss World pageant. She was unfortunately unable to go on board  her connecting flight from Hong Kong to the town of Sanya, Hainan, where the big event is underway when a Chinese officer spoke to her via phone call, explaining that she would not be granted a landing visa upon arrival to the country.

"To prevent me from even stepping into a Chinese territory, I think this is what they're trying to do," Lin said. "I really don't see where this insecurity comes from. I think that's real harm when people watch this and learn a negative lesson. I hope people see courage and hope in the story, not simply just being denied."

While there has been no clear reasons as to why she was barred from entering her own country, one possible reason of the banning might be because Lin is known for being the tough-talking critic of the Chinese religious policy and a devotee of the Falun Gong meditation practice that was forbidden by the China's ruling Communist Party since 1999.

"If they start to censor beauty pageants, how pathetic is that?" Lin said in a statement.

During his arrival at the Hong Kong airport, Lin sported a black leggings and a tan coat. She was approached by some fellow travelers at the airport hall, with some asking to take a photo with her.

In the US congressional hearing held last July, Lin revealed that there were tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners were killed and their organs were sold for transplants.

Besides being a loyal devotee of Falun Gong, Anastasia Lin is also part of the upcoming Canadian film "The Bleeding Edge" where she will be playing the role of an imprisoned Falun Gong practitioner.
