Fat Shaming Study Shows That Embarrassing Obese People Results In Worst Consequences [REPORT]

Fat Shaming Study: It was conducted in the UK among 2,944 people above the age of fifty by The University College London and published in the new issue of Obesity. The results of it show that obese people are not encouraged to lose weight by name callings but all the opposite.

Fat shaming is basically a person that is embarrassed due to the fact that their weight is higher than the average. So, they are teased and called different names, normally, also perhaps receive a different treatment in some shops, stores, restaurants because of the same fact.

Many people genuinely believe that fat shaming helps obese people to lose weight because after being called enough names, then the person will react and get to do exercise, eat less, etc. all to have a "better" image and not be teased anymore. Let me do some enlightening and tell you from this moment that fat shaming does not help in any way to anyone. It is basically bullying in a way and that has never been beneficial.

Fat shaming makes the other person feel worthless and bad with themselves; it does not help them lose weight. The only way to do that is have a genuine will to do so because the person wants to improve but not because other people say it.

In the UK, the study included a survey that had different model questions such as: "You are treated with less respect or courtesy. You receive poorer service than other people in restaurants and stores. People act as if they think you are not clever." Then, the person needs to respond and say either yes, or no.

The only counterpart to this study which makes it look a bit bias perhaps is the fact that the questions about the fat shaming are already provided and the person can look at the question and think that the situation might have happened once and then put a yes.

In simple terms, the fat shaming questions are thought of by someone else and do not work like an experiment where the situations simply happen and are not produced by someone else.

In conclusion, we can all agree from this study that fat shaming is not the answer or the start for someone to lose weight. The person needs to lose weight at the same time that he/she still loves himself/herself, not the other way around and most of all, not out of shame.
