Sean Connery’s Wife Micheline Roquebrune Facing Prison Over Spain Tax Fraud – Not Even James Bond Can Save Her

As the latest James Bond film, "Spectre" starring Daniel Craig, breaks box office records, the original Bond actor is reaching headlines as well, as Sean Connery's wife, Moroccan-French painter Micheline Roquebrune, faces tax charges in Spain over possible fraud - and she could face up to 2 years in prison for her crimes.

Authorities in the Mediterranean country have recently uncovered a tax fraud going up to millions of euros, and it seems like Sean Connery's wife was implicated in the major scheme that cheated the Spanish treasury, something for which the 86 year-old "Bond girl" could be facing prison time if convicted.

According to Fox News, Spanish authorities claim that Sean Connery's wife was charged with fraud after her name appeared on a series of irregularities in the sale of a property the couple shared on Marbella, which sold for $6.77 million, though there's something not quite right in the numbers now.

Forbes reports that while the now-retired Oscar winner was cleared of all charges, Sean Connery's wife didn't have the same luck with Spanish authorities, as she was indicted for taxing fraud over apparently failing to file millions worth of taxes; besides the possible prison time (quite scary considering her advanced age), Roquebrune could face fines for up to $24 million.

According to The Guardian, both Roquebrune and Connery sold a home in Marbella called Malibu in 1998, which was later turned into 73 luxury apartments on the site, after Andalusia authorities had only approved five family homes - in all, yielding $56 million.

The prosecution, in what has been called "Operation Goldfinger," claims Roquebrune conspired with lawyers to cheat the Spanish treasury out of millions of euros.

Roquebrune has been Sean Connery's wife since 1975, in a marriage that has gone on for a full four decades, and if convicted, would probably face domestic arrest due to her advanced age.
