Akron bus Driver Killed After Saving a School Girl

A bus driver from Akron, Ohio has been declared a fallen hero after yanking a child from the jaws of death. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning when, during a routine training drill, the lady sacrificed her own life to save the young child.

Laura Zborowski from Akron, a 51-year old bus driver sacrificed her own life to save a 10-year old girl from Middlebury Academy. Lt. Rick Edwards, an Akron police officer, reported that the driver lost her life after the bus she had saved the little girl from rolled over her.

Edwards stated that the event had occurred during a routine training drill at Middlebury Academy. According to the police report, the bus stopped beside the school as Laura asked the students to perform the routine evacuation drills. Forty students exited the bus and lined up as instructed. The students ranged from kindergarteners to eighth-graders. After lining up, they got back to the bus and made an exit through the rear emergency exit.

The last to exit was the 10 year-old girl.

Unfortunately, as she was climbing out, the vehicle started rolling backwards. Seeing this, Zborowsky immediately threw the girl onto the tree lawn. No sooner had she saved the girl than the vehicle rolled over her.

The vehicle only stopped rolling after it was blocked by a tree. When asked if the driver had time to escape, Edwards answered that she did not have time to react.

Zborowski was employed as a bus driver for the Cincinnati-based company Petermann. She was confirmed dead at 8:10 a.m in the morning, just two hours after the accident.

Edwards assured the public that the Ohio State Highway Patrol would look into the bus mechanics to determine what really caused the bus to roll backwards. Molly Hart, the National Express spokeswoman, said that the Warrenville company would work with the relevant authorities and conduct an investigation of its own.

Petermann transports fifty thousand Ohio school children every day and is one of the major bus companies in Ohio.
