Crazy Doritos: Mexico’s Dorilocos Give A Nutty Twist To Nachos!

Mexico City is one of the world's biggest capitals, boasting a huge - and growing - population, with a taste for giving snack foods an odd twist ... like, for example, the latest invention of street vendors: Crazy Doritos!

Dorilocos, which in Spanish translates to something like Crazy Doritos, are the latest invention of street vendors in the highly populated city. Besides the already packed flavors of regular Doritos, the Crazy Doritos feature some extra ingredients: grated carrots, jicama, cucumber, pickled pork rinds, peanuts, jellied candies, lime juice, two kinds of chili powder, and swirls of several kinds of fruity syrup and hot sauce, according to The Independent.

Crazy Doritos are part of an ongoing trend in the Mexican capital, where vendors all around offer street passers with exotic foods - it has been proven that local Mexican food isn't enough anymore, and they've had to get creative to gather the attention of passers.

Crazy Doritos have become huge in the country, with Facebook fan pages dedicated to the snack food with a twist and even "How to" tutorials on YouTube that teach fans how to prepare them at home.

Upon further investigation, the videos have become popular enough that not all of them are serious: there are actually YouTube parodies of the real Dorilocos tutorials, showing people mockingly preparing the dish.

The crazy snack turned into something else has become popular enough to actually have more flavors other than the standard one, Nacho Cheese: Pizza, Flaming Hot, Devil-Hot and a milder one called Incognito.

The Mexican government has issued warnings regarding the country's growing obesity population. On 2013, Mexico reached the point where no country wants to be: it became the top obese country in the American continent, surpassing the United States of America, according to a report by CBS last year.
