Chrissy Teigen Death Threats: Why Did John Legend’s Wife Leave Twitter?

Chrissy Teigen's death threats rightfully scared the 29 year-old model and wife of singer John Legend, who in fear decided to back off from social network Twitter and take a break from the site. Chrissy Teigen's death threats came after she made a comment regarding the Canada shooting earlier this week.

Chrissy Teigen's death threats first appeared on Monday, when the model heard the news about the shooting in downtown buildings in Ottawa, Canada, and made a comment about the growing violence in the United States.

"Active shooting in Canada, or as we call it in America, Wednesday," tweeted Teigen last Wednesday, October 22, paralleling the recent events in Ottawa with the violence issues in America, a country that has had many shooting incidents in the past - including a very recent school shooting last Friday in Marysville, Washington, according to several news outlets like CNN.

As is somewhat common on the Internet, after her comments, aggressive Internet trolls quickly lambasted the model for speaking out and Chrissy Teigen's death threats made their appearance.

"Sorry Canada, our Hollywood elits and its dumb models are idiots. Wish ISIS would give Chrissy a permanent haircut," tweeted one user, according to Us Weekly online. This was the level of aggression the Sports Illustrated cover girl received on the popular social network.

The tweet's still there and days have past since, but even if she had deleted the original comment it was too late, as many users had already responded and, as is usual on Internet discussions, some had entirely lost track of what the topic at hand was, just attacking her as anti-American, telling her she should move away from the country and making Chrissy Teigen's death threats a reality.

While the model is famous for making sarcastic cracks in social media, it's the first time she's gotten attacked at this magnitude, and afterwards she decided to back off for a while. Her last tweet, posted on Friday, read: "I feel sick. Bye Twitter. Taking my talents to instagram."

Let's hope Chrissy Teigen can go back to Twitter safely soon!
