KFC New Double Down Burger Reintroduced in the U.S Though Only for a Limited Time

KFC's new double down burger is back with a vengeance! The double down burger: bacon, Monterey jack cheese and colonel's sauce sandwiched between two purely 100% white meat original KFC recipe fillets and as always, no bun. Bread is dead.  

The reintroduction could not have come at a more opportune time. The KFC new double down burger is expected to cause a rush of fans to KFC outlets countrywide as more and more people jump on the double down trend.

The burger, however, is not new on the KFC menus. The double down burger was first tested in Omaha, Nebraska and Rhode Island back in 2010. Following its success, the double down was announced on April Fool's Day and launched in the United States on April 12, 2010. It was promoted on television and on billboards across the country with the caption "so much 100 percent premium chicken, we didn't have room for a bun."

The burger immediately hit nationwide success, clocking over 10 million sales in just one month, netting $5 million for KFC. It was originally on a limited offer, from April 12 to May 19, 2010, but due to its success, KFC decided to have it as a permanent fixture on their menu.

The buzz it created was new to KFC. The double down burger was so popular, fans began taking videos of themselves enjoying the burger and posting them on YouTube, causing an internet storm.

The burger was introduced in Canada in October 2010. The trend got even stronger. On its launch date, A KFC branch in Victoria, British Columbia sold out on the double down burger early as 2 pm PST. It clocked over 350,000 in sales in just ten days of being introduced!

The double down is back for one more round in the U.S market. However, KFC is maintaining that the burger will only be available for a limited time. Check out the new KFC double down burger commercial below for a taste.
