Thanksgiving Diet: 5 Common Mistakes

Thanksgiving is definitely the time for mouth-watering foods and sometimes we tend to overeat. However, this list will be your guide to avoid the most common mistakes during the holidays and to not gain any unwanted weight.

First is do not skip meals before the thanksgiving dinner as many people do this in an attempt to try and give extra space to eat more calories during the festivities. However, it is one of the don'ts as you might end up eating much more because you starved yourself too much. Basically, you could eat lightly for your breakfast but make sure there are protein and fiber in your meal.

Next is wearing loose-fitting clothes to create the illusion that you are keeping tabs on your weight. Form-fitting clothes are better to wear as it is easier not to overeat. It makes you aware that you dressed for the night and you won't ruin your great figure by munching on high-caloric foods.

Third is treating Thanksgiving dinner as if it is your last supper. You have to eat slowly and savor the foods. No need to eat hurriedly to get the chance to taste everything. Eating everything in moderation is the key to be able to enjoy the night yet not gain as much weight as you normally do.

Know what to eat between the stuffing, the sweet potatoes, the rice and the turkey as well as the salads. Do not eat too much starchy foods as these would lead to you gaining more weight.

The fourth tip is not to start a diet then eventually ban all the treats. You should again eat everything moderately especially the sweet treats and do not deprive yourself entirely from having it as you might end up eating too much a little later during the Thanksgiving dinner.

Lastly, experts advise that drinking alcohol on an empty stomach is a major no. Once you stuff yourself just right for the evening then end up drinking wine or cocktail, you will be able to see if your body could still contain it.
