Miss World Update: Competition Begins Despite Recent Death Of Miss Honduras

Miss World reportedly began its competition despite the unfortunate deaths of one of its candidates, Miss Honduras, and while other Beauty Queens still mourn for the tragic loss.

In just less than a week following the death of Miss Honduras Maria Jose Alvarado as well as her sister, the participant and competitors from different parts of the world were asked to gather in the London to pay respects for the sisters.

The event was said to be called as the "Service of World Unity, Love, Thanksgiving and Remembrance." It was an event where the finalists went to the Gibson Hall in order to honor Maria and her sister.

There have been photos posted regarding the said event in the website of Miss Universe and it showed candles, speeches and a lot of tears that were seen on the participants' faces.

A day after the event, the candidates then had to make the show go on and they were asked to gather around for a photo call before they compete for the crown. The candidates vying for the position also had photos together with Miss World 2013 Megan Young.

A source has noted that despite the bright smiles and beautiful faces of the candidates, they are really surrounded with a sad vibe and aura.

Miss World chairman Julie Morley has released a statement saying, "We are devastated by this terrible loss of two young women, who were so full of life. We are receiving messages of condolences and support from our Miss World family across the world, who all share our sadness at such a tragedy."

Morley added, "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of María José Alvarado & Sofía Trinidad at this time of grief."

Maria and her sister were reportedly missing after they attended a birthday party of a friend in Santa Barbara, Honduras and were found days after. Reports say that the boyfriend of Maria killed her due to a jealous rage.
