buffalo chicken at home with this recipe.


Preparing American Buffalo Chicken

When cooking buffalo chicken, you will need about an hour and five minutes to do so. It is a perfect meal to prepare for your family and friends on a Friday night. To cook American buffalo chicken, you first need to brine the chicken to make it juicy and smokey on the inside. Also, buffalo chicken will not be special without the spicy buffalo sauce, which adds up to the heat of the dish.

When it comes to nutritional value, a serving of American buffalo chicken has 520 calories, 35 grams of fat, 15 grams of saturated fat, 11 grams of carbohydrates, 11 grams of sugar, 3 grams of fiber, 38 grams of protein, and 7.4 grams of salt. 


The ingredients

For this recipe's ingredients, you will need:


For the brining process:
1 and ½ kilograms of chicken, thighs, and drumsticks
90 grams soft dark brown sugar
2 tbsp chili flakes
180 grams of salt


For the spicy buffalo sauce:
75 grams of butter
1 tbsp maple syrup
125 mL hot chili sauce


For the spicy chicken mix:
1 tbsp sea salt
2 tbsp smoked and sweet paprika
1 tbsp dark brown sugar
1 tbsp cumin


Procedures

To brine the chicken, you will need to put it in the bowl first. In a pan, pour one liter of water and set it to heat. Add the salt, chili flakes, and brown sugar on the pan. When the three are dissolved, add two liters of cold water and pour it over the chicken. Let the chicken rest and chill inside the fridge for two hours. But, if you want a more flavorful and juicier chicken, you can do the brining process a day or two before you cook it. If you are ready to cook, take the chicken out and tap it dry using a paper towel. 

Next, prepare the oven and let it heat to 180 degrees Celsius. In a baking tray, put the smoked paprika, sea salt, dark brown sugar, and cumin. Mix all the condiments and then add the chicken. Make sure the powdered ingredients cover all parts of the chicken. Once everything is covered, roast the chicken in the oven for an hour at most or until the chicken looks crispy and caramelized. 

While the chicken is cooking in the oven, it's time to make the sauce. To start, grab a small pan and place it on the stove in low heat. Add the butter, maple syrup, and hot sauce on the pan and slowly melt and mix it. Once the chicken is out of the oven, drizzle the sauce on top and mix it with a spatula. Pair the buffalo chicken with some steamed buttered corn.
