Fast food is generally cheap, but lately, prices are surging due to high demand. Fast food restaurants are also launching more premium items to attract customers who are willing to spend just a bit more on prime cuts of meat and fresh ingredients. Eat This, Not That! has compiled a list of the most expensive fast food burgers and sandwiches. Check out the list to see what's worth the higher price tag.

Most Expensive Fast Food Burgers

According to Eat This, Not That!, most fast food chains offer at least one premium "fancy" option. Here are some of them.

Wendy's Pretzel Bacon Pub Triple

With $8.50, you can get a Pretzel Bacon Pub Triple from Wendy's. As its name suggests, this burger features a pretzel bun and three quarter-pound patties with sliced muenster cheese in between. It's topped off with bacon, pickles, crispy fried onions, and warm beer sauce. With the higher price also comes a high calorie count - 1,520!

Shake Shack's Shake Stack

If you can't decide between a beef or mushroom burger, this Shake Shack mashup has them both. This $10.89 burger has both a beef patty, a fried portobello mushroom cap, and a slice of cheese in between. It's then topped with lettuce, tomato, and the famous ShackSauce. If you want to add bacon, that's an extra $1.89. However, by itself, it's a lighter option than Wendy's Pretzel Bacon Pub Triple at around 770 calories.

Smashburger's Double Smoked Bacon Brisket Burger

This burger is a meat-lovers dream come true. At $11.49, Smashburger's Double Smoked Bacon Brisket Burger has two Angus beef patties, 10-hour-smoked brisket, bacon, and cheddar cheese. That's a triple threat of meat and one hefty snack (or meal!) with a calorie count of 1,249.

Most Expensive Fast Food Sandwiches

Habit Burger's Ahi Tuna Filet

In the battle of fish sandwiches, Habit Burger's Ahi Tuna Filet may be the most expensive one. At $10.81, customers get a "line-caught, sushi-grade tuna steak" with some coleslaw, tomatoes, and a teriyaki glaze. If you want an upgrade from McDonald's famous Fillet-O-Fish, try this one.

Panera Bread's Toasted Steak & White Cheddar Sandwich

One of the most expensive fast food sandwiches, Panera Bread's Toasted Steak & White Cheddar Sandwich costs $11.39. It features real steak chunks, Vermont white cheddar cheese, and topped with pickled red onions and horseradish sauce on crusty ciabatta bread. That artisanal flair may just be worth it.

Firehouse Subs' Meatball Sandwich

Firehouse Subs' 12-inch large Meatball Sub features Italian meatballs topped with a zesty marinara sauce, melted provolone cheese, and Italian seasonings. Two people can split the nearly $12 bill and the 1,920 calorie count of this filling sandwich offering.

Jimmy John's The J.J. Gargantuan

This 16-inch sandwich tops the list at nearly $20 a pop. On a loaf of French bread, the sandwich is loaded with five types of meat (salami, roast beef, ham, capicola, and turkey). It has provolone cheese, and topped with onion, lettuce, tomato, mayo, oil & vinegar, and oregano-basil. With this heap of fixings, you will not regret the splurge. It can easily be split among three to four people, as well.
