Kosta Karageorge Ohio State Football Player And Wrestler Found Dead With Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound, Police Authorities Probing Death As Suicide

Kosta Karageorge Ohio State Football Player who was missing since Wednesday was found dead in a dumpster near campus, a few blocks from his home on Sunday. Columbus Police was probing the case as suicide after a self-inflicted gunshot wound was found and a gun was found on the trash bin.

The 22-year-old 285-pound Kosta Karageorge Ohio State football player and wrestler was last seen by his friends strolling early on Wednesday around 2 a.m. Since then, he was not seen and was reported missing.

Apparently, the Ohio State defensive lineman Kosta Karageorge texted her mother before he went missing saying that he was sorry for being an embarrassment for his concussions. The mother revealed that her son had history of concussions and told police that it may help in the investigation of the case. Meanwhile on the day that the body of Kosta Karageorge Ohio State football player was found, roughly 400 Ohio Students composing of Karageorge's wrestling teammates and Ohio State Marching Band, gathered for a half-hour vigil for the departed Ohio State football player. Kosta Karageorge, Ohio State wrestler and football player was remembered as the whole campus offered prayers for him at the Ohio State oval.

In the crowded vigil, fellow students, classmates, teammates, friends and professors gathered to offer prayers to Kosta Karageorge. Ohio State community was mourning for the loss of a great friend, player and acquaintance, they say.

The Ohio State University Department of Athletics expressed their sympathy and shock over the death of Kosta Karageorge, Ohio State football player. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the Karageorge family, and those who knew him, during this most difficult time," the department statement reads.

Sgt. Richard Weiner of the Columbus Police Department said that they are still investigating the death of Kosta Karageorge. Ohio State police said that they are still looking on the angle if he really committed suicide, how long he was in the trash bin and whether the gun found in the bin was owned by the player.

Kosta Karageorge's sister, Sophia Karageorge, told police in a phone interview on Friday that his brother was suffering from constant concussions especially during the last Fall. She said that it really bothered him because he was not able to focus and had mood swings due to his condition.

Concussion, the condition that's bothering Kosta Karageorge, Ohio State football player and wrestler is classified as a brain injury caused by traumatic instances that changes the way the brain functions.

 It is caused by severe bumps on the head and is common to people playing contact sports such as football, according to Mayo Clinic. It is the same condition that was found in the brains of former NFL players who committed suicide including Dave Duerson, Mike Webster and Junior Seau.
