Miss World Pageant Bans Bikinis, Swimsuit Portion Of Competition Scrapped Out

The Miss World pageant is removing one of the traditional portions of the show that has started years ago and it is one of the most popular parts of any beauty pageant as well as the most-awaited as the competitors show off their skinny bods.

The swimsuit competition is said to be removed by the Miss World pageant and this is the first time in 63 years that bikinis have been banned in the said competition. This has been first announced by the chairwoman of the organization identified as Julia Morley.

Also, the national director of Miss World America/ Miss United States organization, Chris Wilmer, released a statement saying: "The organization has decided to take itself out of the swimsuit world because it isn't the path they're trying to take. It's not just a beauty contest, it's 'beauty with a purpose'. There didn't seem to be a purpose to have the swimsuit."

Wilmer also reportedly told ABC News the following statement: "Miss World should be a spokesperson who can help a community. She's more of an ambassador, not a beauty queen. It's more about the outreach and what a woman could do with a title like Miss World."

Wilmers adds that the Miss World should be saluted for their efforts in modernizing the system. Wilmer noted that pageantry is an industry that has been there for ages already and Morley removing and getting rid of the swimsuit feature makes the competition more of a lifestyle race and it gives out a very strong message.

The organizations removing the swimsuit feature from the competition pointed out that they want their contestants to focus their attention more on charitable works as well as raising awareness to causes that are worthy of people's attention.

Just recently, the 64th Miss World has been crowned and the winner was South Africa's Rolene Strauss. The latest pageant still had the contestants with their bikinis but that is the last of it.
