Microsoft is gearing up to release its newest operating system, Windows 10, in its struggle to win back the mobile market industry. Microsoft revealed in a latest statement that they are planning to release its first major operating system update at an event in Redmond, Washington.
The once dominant force in the tech industry has slowly diminished its control of the market after many of its PC users shifted into mobile devices. Microsoft entered the mobile devices market with a series of its Windows Phones but the product failed to capitalize and compete against the industry leaders' iOS and Android. Many tech analysts are speculating that this latest update from Microsoft could restore the company to its former glory.
Although Microsoft still dominates the PC market, the introduction of mobile devices has seriously hampered its sales output and many statistical study shows that Android devices will outsell PC systems three to one this year.
Right now Microsoft is aiming to release a single operating system for both PC and mobile devices. A very risky move according to some analyst and its success or failure will greatly affect the future of Microsoft.
According to Colin Gillis, a senior tech analyst for BGC Partners, "That's the problem of the incumbent. Arguable Microsoft could put itself ahead of the competition for a change."
Windows 10 will be the successor for the failed Windows 8 operating system. According to Microsoft they decided to skip Windows 9 and go straight to 10 in their hopes of breaking the connection from failures in the past. According to Microsoft, the new operating system is modeled to the success of previous operating systems and worked out the failures presented by the Windows 8.
Microsoft has a long history of making remarkable comebacks after launching failed products and this could present a positive vibe for Windows 10.
