McDonald’s Menu Items: McD Menu Becomes Even Smaller, Did Your Favorites Make The Cut?

Last December, the first announcement regarding McDonald's menu items came out to the public, as they axed eight different foods from their menu in the United States; now, as they move towards a more comprehensive new strategy to pick up their sales after dangerously low numbers, there will be even less items to choose from.

As Food World News reported in mid-December, there were a total of eight McDonald's menu items that didn't make the cut for their first 2015 halt; now, the major fast food chain has announced that their restaurants would see an even larger decrease in their products, as they step up towards a new strategy to pickup sales.

According to The Huffington Post, while there haven't been any official announcements regarding changes in McDonald's menu items, the company's United States CEO hinted last week that things might change up even more in the house of Ronald McDonald.

CNBC found a source inside the fast food company, the owner of a mid-size Midwest franchise, that the following McDonald's menu items were heading to their demise in the United States soon: the bacon habanero ranch Quarter pounder, the bacon and cheese Quarter Pounder, the chipotle BBQ Snack Wrap, the honey mustard Snack Wrap, and the premium chicken club sandwich as well as the premium ranch BLT chicken sandwich.

As Bustle reports, this is part of a larger and ongoing strategy from the fast food giant, as they're preparing for a new venture: over 2,000 kiosks nationwide in the "Create Your Taste" campaign, which have been creating following their trend of customizable gourmet burgers in Australia with a similar concept, "Make-Your-Own-Burger."

Also, the new customizable McDonald's menu items are set to compete with other chains who offer similar services, most famously Chipotle. Reportedly, the move was made to avoid customers from getting mixed up with all the menu options, but perhaps the possibility of making their burgers from scratch could ultimately be more confusing in the long run.
