Birdman: Does He Deserves winning the Oscar Best Picture or Not?

Birdman won the Best Picture award during the 87th Academy Awards held Sunday night. It had been a favorite when it came to best picture with $37.8 million domestic ticket earnings.

During the night of the Oscars, the million dollar question was that, which among the two, Boyhood or Birdman, would win the Best Picture category. These two films were actually included in the "least-seen contenders" over the years to generate almost $38 million through sales on domestic ticket. Prior to the main event, Birdman had already received major awards from the three most essential guilds in Hollywood.

"I want to dedicate this award for my fellow Mexicans. The ones that live in this country who are part of the latest generation of immigrants in this country, I just pray that they can be treated with the same dignity and the respect of the ones who came before and (built) this incredible immigrant nation," Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu said during his speech after winning the award.

Before the awards night took place, Birdman had already indicated a win because of the SAG, the PGA, and DGA. The film focused on the "washed-up superhero-movie actor" Michael Keaton who is "a fading actor". The powerhouse casting also includes Edward Norton, Zach Galifianakis, Amy Ryan, Naomi Watts, Emma Stone, and Andrea Riseborough.

The issue of Mexicans winning the Oscars twice in a row may have been a controversial win for this year's academy awards but the people have spoken and results have been drawn. The best picture was awarded to Inarritu despite of the debates that Boyhood should have won instead of Birdman. Perhaps, many people are still in disgust for the results and even request for re-awarding the best picture for the "more deserving" film than Birdman.
