Llama Escape: 2 Llamas Take Phoenix And Internet Goes WILD Over Llama Drama [VIDEO]

Years of Internet memes have already proven that the world loves llamas, but the whole thing had never been as obvious as it has been over the past few hours, after a llama escape in Phoenix, Arizona, prompted news outlets around the globe into some heavy llama drama.

Ever since the 2004 DeviantArt absurd "The Llama Song," it has been proven time and again that the Internet can't live without the South American camelid, which originally comes from the Andes and has been traditionally used for its meat and as a pack animal - but the llama escape shows that maybe these adorable furry animals have something else in mind altogether.

It was an odd sight in Arizona last Thursday, according to The Washington Post, as two escaped llamas took on the streets of a retirement community in the West Valley of Sun City, as they walked around calmly followed by several officers of the law, prompting the South American animals to run away from them, until ultimately being lassoed down.

Of course, videos of the llamas' escape to freedom took little to no time to reach the Internet, as AZ Central reports that the two llamas (one black and one white; their names have not been released to the public) ended up making news and becoming "social media darlings," as users around the country watched avidly to see whether the resourceful animals could ultimately avoid capture.

The best thing about the whole situation is seeing the two llamas walking normally among cars and curious bystanders, while a whole team of people tried to chase them down.

Vox wrote one of the funniest reports about the llama escape, creating an entire fictitious conspiracy theory as the article asked questions like whether the llamas were acting alone or if they'd planned the whole thing beforehand.
