Food Rankings: Crafted Beer and College Dining Halls

Some quick numbers on the beer industry: there are currently over 2,000 breweries in the United States, and another 600 or 700 are on the way, according to an article on the Huffington Post. FoodRepublic.com recently listed their rankings for the top 10 craft beers in the business. California made a strong showing on the list – beers from all across the state made the cut – but Michigan, Colorado, and Vermont, and Wisconsin brews were included as well. Check out the full list here to see who grabs the number one slot.

In other news, college dining halls across the country have been ranked by CollegeProwler.com. Aimed at helping high school students figure out where they’d like to apply to school, or help them decide where they’d like to spend the next four years, ranking the college dining halls is pretty important. If you’re going to gain the Freshman 15 – followed by the Sophomore 7 – you might as well do it by eating good food. You can find the rankings of all 752 schools here. Schools like Bowdoin, Tufts, UCLA, and Yale all got very high marks, and the food at Purdue University and Rice University – among others – is pretty top-notch, too. Based on this list, though, college-bound foodies might want to avoid West Point and Louisiana College. La Roche College in Pittsburgh, PA came in last place, with the only D on the list.
