Earlier this week, John Stamos confirmed that the rumored Netflix "Full House" remake (or rather, spinoff) was actually in the works, with the two oldest Tanner sisters from the original show returning for a new version of the story, only with an all-female cast.
Even when Food World News reported the first rumors of a possible "Full House" remake, many fans of the classic 90s family show started to wonder whether Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, who shared the role of Michelle Tanner in the original show, would be showing up for the remake.
In an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" a few days ago, Stamos, who played Uncle Jesse in the original show, told the talk show host that he was producing the "Full House" remake and, according to The Verge, also spoke about the series' concept: in it, Candace Cameron-Bure (D.J. Tanner in the original show) will play the same role, although she'll now be a pregnant widow in San Francisco, and her sister Steph (Jodie Sweetin) and BFF Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber) will move in with her in her father's old home.
For a complete "Full House" remake gender switch, D.J.'s two children are both boys - and Kimmy has a teenage daughter!
"As big fans of the original 'Full House,' we are thrilled to be able to introduce 'Fuller House's' new narrative to existing fans worldwide, who grew up on the original, as well as a new generation of global viewers that have grown up with the Tanners in syndication," said Cindy Holland, Netflix's VP of Original Content, about the official "Full House" remake announcement, according to Hit Fix.
Hollywood Life reports that, while the three oldest girls from the original show have already signed on and Stamos will be making a guest appearance or two, there's still no word on whether other stars like Dave Coulier, Bob Saget, Lori Loughlin or the Olsen twins will also reprise their roles, as they're currently in talks.
In any case, nostalgic fans are more than happy to see the return of some of their favorite characters on the "Full House" remake!
