Are Airport Restaurants Taking Off?

Although the food aboard airplanes is notoriously awful, it seems that there are some spots to get some decent grub before you board.

According to Eatocracy, "a new wave of airport restaurants is elevating airport cuisine." Celebrity chefs are leading the charge, opening restaurants in airport terminals around the country. Eatocracy says, "The better restaurants that are located in the public areas of their respective airports, such as Hong Kong's Hung's Delicacies and La Moraga in Malaga, Spain, have become magnets for non-traveling locals, achieving the hitherto unthinkable by turning the airport into a foodie destination."

Perhaps the standard dinner-and-a-movie date night will become dinner-and-a-quick-getaway.

If you want to check out some of the best the airport has to offer, CNN has recommendations of which restaurants to try. Frommers has suggestions, as well.  Maybe, with this new information, your next layover could be a bit more enjoyable.

For entreprising chefs who want to break into more untapped markets, it's worth noting that hospital food could use a serious upgrade.
