Comedian Tracy Morgan has finally reached a settlement with Walmart over the car crash that involved one of the company's trucks.
The accident, which happened on June 7 last year, also killed James McNair, who was travelling with Morgan at the time.
According to Walmart's press release, the terms and conditions of the settlement will be kept confidential. The plaintiffs included Morgan, Jeffrey Millea and Ardley Fuqua, who were all represented by Atty. Benedict Morelli.
Morgan said in a statement, "Walmart did right by me and my family, and for my associates and their families. I am grateful that the case was resolved amicably."
Greg Foran, Walmart U.S. president and CEO, also had a message for the families. "Our thoughts continue to go out to everyone that was involved in the accident," he said in the press release.
"While we know there is nothing that can change what happened, Walmart has been committed to doing what's right to help ensure the well-being of all of those who were impacted by the accident. We worked closely with Mr. Morelli, and we are pleased to have reached an amicable settlement that ends this litigation. We are deeply sorry that one of our trucks was involved."
Morgan and company were driving on the New Jersey Turnpike when Walmart truck driver Kevin Roper slammed into their limousine-bus. The comedian suffered several broken bones as well as a serious brain injury.
Morgan caught the public eye when he joined the cast of 'Saturday Night Live' in 1996. After leaving the show, he was cast in SNL alum Tina Fey's comedy series '30 Rock.' In the show, Morgan plays Tracy Jordan, and his performance earned him an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
In 2013, Morgan hosted the Billboard Music Awards. His most recent project was the 2015 comedy 'Accidental Love' starring Jessica Biel and Jake Gyllenhaal.
