David Duchovny's 'Aquarius' Premieres on NBC

Former X-Files star David Duchovny has graced the TV screens once more with 'Aquarius', the newest NBC drama that aired yesterday. As announced last April 29, the 13-episode show will be available online and on NBC's official mobile apps for about a month, beginning today.

The 54-year-old actor will play Sam Hodiak, a World War II veteran and homicide detective for the Los Angeles Police Department. Set in 1967, he will be assigned a case involving a missing 16-year-old girl who is believed to have joined the cult led by Charles Manson.

His investigation will lead him straight into the arms of the American criminal, notorious for murders that occured in San Fernando Valley.

'Bunheads' star Emma Dumont will take on the role of the young teenager. Dumont shared about her first thoughts of her character as Emma, she said "so new and shocking and intense."

Gethin Anthony will portray cult leader Manson, while the character of undercover cop Brian Shave will be played by Grey Damon.

In an interview with TVLine, Duchovny said that Hodiak does not see Manson as a murderer.

"He sees him as a punk, not even as a worthy adversary. He's a pimp. He's a con man. He's manipulating very young women and young boys. Hodiak knows exactly what Manson is doing and how he's doing it. It's not a big mystery," he said.

Duchovny said, "The mystery is going to be what happens in history. That, Hodiak does not see coming."

The '60s mystery crime drama will also star Claire Holt as Chairman Tully, Michaela McManus as Grace Karn and Brian F.O'Byrne as Ken Karn.

David Duchovny is also known for playing a womanizing, drug-loving novelist in the comedy-drama show 'Californication.' He has won two Golden Globe awards for the show and 'The X-Files.'
