Entourage Movie May Exceed Expectations at the Box Office

Things are looking good for Vincent Chase and the boys. Deadline Hollywood is reporting that early box office returns show that the just released Entourage film is punching above its weight at theatres. The big screen continuation of the hit HBO TV series raked in $2M at midnight screenings on Tuesday and should take home an additional $5M during the day for a Wednesday haul hovering around $6M-$7M.

The film is now expected to reach a five day gross in the low to mid $20M's once receipts are tallied on Sunday. Optimistic projections even have the film nearing the $30M mark.

Online ticket seller Fandago echoed the strong box office figures, saying Entourage accounted for %50 of its daily sales. However, despite the better than expected box office figures, it looks like Vincent Chase and the gang will not debut at the top spot. That Honour will go to action comedy 'Spy' which is fronted by Melissa McCarthy, Jude Law, and Jason Statham. The film is expected to rake in upwards of $30M this week.

The Hollywood Reporter credits the film's surprise success to the strong interest it generated among young males. Deadline also believes the strong social media presence of the film's stars helped propel it above early estimates. Mark Whalberg, the film's executive producer and the basis for main character Vincent Chase, has been promoting the film nonstop to his 16M twitter followers. Jeremy Piven, who plays talent agent Ari Gold in the film, also has a strong twitter following with more than 2.5M followers.

Original cast members Kevin Connolly, Jerry Ferrara, Adrian Grenier, Kevin Dillon and Jeremy Piven reprise their roles. Series creator Doug Ellin directed from his own script. Mark Wahlberg, Rob Weiss and Stephen Levinson produce.

Celebrity Cameos include Piers Morgan, Jessica Alba, Ronda Rousey, Tom Brady, and Russell Wilson.
