John Ingle Dead at 84, Friends & Fans Remember Him on Twitter

John Ingle, also known as Edward Quartermaine on General Hospital, has died on Sunday. He was 84 years old.

Others may know him as Mickey Horton on "Days of our Lives," or guest appearances on numerous daytime shows like "Melrose Place" and "Beverly Hills 90210."

Ingle lost his wife of 57 years, Grace-Lynne Martin Ingle on Feb. 11.

They have five daughters, and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Ingle's family posted on Facebook:

"Father, Husband, Grandan, Great Grandan, Brother, Uncle, Friend, Teacher, Inspirer, Mentor: May You Soar with the Angels. You will forever hold a special place in the deepest corners of our hearts. You were joy, light and love. Goodness at its very best. For the rest of our days, we will all do our best to continue to make you proud. Rest in peace and continue to spread your generous spirit in the heavens above."

According to Wikipedia, "In late 2008, Ingle underwent treatment for a small section of melanoma on his scalp. He was forced to have to wear a hat while onscreen to cover the bandage. As of 2012, the scars continue to heal, and Ingle sporadically wears hats, which have become Edward's trademark."
