Nestlé's investment of CHF 15 million made it possible to build site in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as company wanted its products to better adjust to nutritional need and taste of natives.
Factory which started firstly its production in 2011 in now fully operational, and is so called 'finishing factory' for micronutrient-fortified Maggiculinary products for example as bouillon cubes and tablets. Finishing factories are the ones that are easily adaptable for various manufacturing methods such as packing products or processing ingredients.
Nestlé says this is the key to get closer to consumers and maximize utilization of raw materials from local production.
In Kinishasa's factory was created over 60 direct job opportunities as well as business for local suppliers from the country.
Following the opening of factory in Angola from last month is facility in DRC latest Nestlé's site inaugurated in Equatorial Africa. Both of which were build during tree year program with investment of CHF 150 million started from 2010.
Africa is the continent in which Nestlé operates more than 130 years, with the first factory opened 1927. Total number of company factories is 29. Total over all investment in Africa was USD 1.2 billion in last 5 years. Nestlé focused on building local manufacturing capacity, enlarge distribution networks and modify products to suite better to local markets.
Nestlé calculates to double its business in Africa Continent by 2020.
