Ben & Jerry's Celebrate Legalization of Same-Sex Marriage By Naming Ice Cream 'I Dough, I Dough'

In celebration of the legalization of same-sex marriage in the United States, Ben & Jerry's ice cream is naming their Chocolate Chip Dough ice cream, "I Dough, I Dough."

This summer, the ice cream pint's limited edition commemorative sleeve is also available at the Human Rights campaign's website, where 100% of the proceeds will head to.

"Ben & Jerry's is proud of the Supreme Court's landmark decision against discrimination as it boldly stands up for equality for same sex couples everywhere," said Ben & Jerry's CEO Jostein Solheim told Business Wire. "At Ben & Jerry's, there's only one way to celebrate: with a scoop of I Dough, I Dough, Marriage equality never tasted so good"!

For over 35 years, Ben & Jerry's has been very active in its social obligations, especially on its advocacy in supporting gay rights and equality.

"Today marks a tremendous win for all Americans who believe in love, liberty and equality. With the Supreme Court's decision, loving same-sex couples are now free to marry in all 50 states," Ben & Jerry's stated on its website. "It's a history-making decision on an issue that has divided our nation for far too long, and we couldn't be happier for our friends and family in the LGBT community."

In 1989, the company offered full benefits for its LGBT employees and their same-sex partners.

When the company's home state, Vermont legalized same-sex marriage in 2009, Ben & Jerry's playfully renamed its Chubby Hubby flavor to "Hubby Hubby" in honor of the celebration.

In February, the ice cream known for its quirky and clever names also considered to create Marijuana-filled ice cream when it reaches full-legalization.

"Makes sense to me," co-founder Ben Cohen told Huffington Post Live. "Combine your pleasures."

However, unlike other states, Vermont has still not legalized recreational or medical use of Marijuana.
