Welcome to the First Virgin Hotels

Virgin Hotels opens its very first in Chicago.  Yahoo Travel touts it as the hotel that has gotten rid of everything we hate in hotels.  It is the ultimate traveller-friendly hotel.

For starters, there is free Wi-Fi.  Then, you can check in early or check out late, at no extra cost.  They have a free social hour for their hotel guests.  The mini-bar carries products at very reasonable prices.

Despite its freebies and extra value services, it is no budget-hotel in its amenities.  And it still carries the quirkiness of its owner, Sir Richard Branson, who is known for his empire of fun with business like the Virgin Atlantic and the Virgin Mobile, among the many.

The logo and signage of Virgin Hotels is cherry red, just like the fruit that you pop.  No one refers to rooms; it is, instead, call Chambers.  The Chambers are very luxurious.  It comprises of the Dressing Room, which includes hallway, closet and bathroom, and the sleeping lounge.  The two are separated by a sliding door.

If it is your first time in Virgin Hotels, you definitely have to try the bed.  It has an ergonomic headboard, and an erectable footboard, that can be erected in various positions.  Virgin Hotels expects to also operate in New York and Nashville in the future.

And because the surroundings are oh-so-luxurious, you just have to stay in bed the whole day.  No problem.  You can call for Lucy.  Lucy is the phone app which allows you to order food, make restaurant reservations or have a live chat with the concierge.

And because you are in Virgin Hotels, you don't want to go out not dressed, or at least not fashionably dressed.  You can call on your Lucy and buy a Gap outfit using your phone.  And Gap will deliver it right to your door.  When travelling, you do not want to be caught surprised and unprepared.  From underwear to a pair of jeans to bags, Gap has it for you.
